A Decline in Business for a Latino Grocery Store Caused By Fear


I met Rigoto Perez during a random trip to Los Cuates Latin Market in Columbia, MO. I spoke to a costumer who said markets like Los Cuates (the pals) made moving to the Midwest a smoother transition. Perez said with the tightened restraints on immigration law, it’s become harder to do business since their primary customers are afraid of being persecuted in obvious locations.

The Concealed Handgun Debate


“Kids with Guns,” was a story I put together in wake of the University of Virginia Tech shooting and concealed weapon debate that started to heat up in the college towns across the country. I spoke to Republican State Representative Brian Munzlinger, University of Missouri Chief of Police Jack Watring, junior Brian Roach and Target Masters Shooting Range store clerk Bob Crone.

This story takes a look at the diversity in the Islamic population of Columbia, MO. I interviewed people from all walks of life that happened to be worshipping at the Islamic Center of Central Missouri’s mosque.

Foster Care at Coyote Hill: Part 2


This is the third part of a series covering foster care in Mid-Missouri. The focus was on Coyote Hill, a state-funded foster care facility located in Harrisburg. I spoke to 17 year-old Acaia and 10 year-old Shakira (both names are false, to protect their identities) about their experiences in foster care and how they got there.
